Hike in Kiraikai Nature Reserve
An immersion in the private Kiraikai Ecolodga Natural Reserve, located in the Barbas Bremen Soil Conservation District, a biological corridor of great importance in the region, where we can have the experience of observing different types of birds, spoting the Howler Monkey and the Ruby Frog.
At the end of the walk, we will enjoy a local lunch, then we will tour the colorful town of Filandia and finish the adventure by weaving baskets with master craftsmen. In this activity we will recognize the work of this handmade art, sharing the stories that have been built for more than a century in the workshop “Weaving a tradition.”
Suggested Itinerary
7:00 a.m. - Meet your expert Bambusa guide at your hotel and begin your transfer to the reserve.
8:30 a.m. - Start your tour inside the Kiraikai Nature Reserve. Meet and greet with your local guide and enjoy a 2-hour walk along nature trails in the Barbas Bremen Soil Conservation District, observing birds, howler monkeys, and the ruby frog, emblematic species of the region.
11:00 a.m. - Transfer to Filandia, walk through the village, visit viewpoints, and tour the Museum of Interpretation of the Rattan and Basketry Culture.
12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. - Lunch at a local restaurant.
1:30 p.m. - "Weaving a Tradition" craft workshop, where you will learn about the history and art of basketry, creating your own handmade item guided by master artisans (duration: 1 hour).
3:00 p.m. - Return to the Hacienda by vehicle.
